Cute Ensemble
Okay, I admit that I sometimes like the frivolousness of the younger generation, and we have articles here advising that we dress age appropriate. Still, it's fun to dress ala Alanis Morrisette in the movie, Dogma. Didn't you think that outfit was cute? Here it is, if you don't remember.Any old hows... I put together an outfit accidentally that reminded me of that. First I started with a white Levi jacket that accidentally got thrown in with some of the red load in laundry. It wasn't too pretty, so I went to the store and got some of the more expensive dye, and made it a very very pretty Berry color. I've worn that with some of my man-clothes and gotten some weird looks, but what others think of me is their business, not mine.
Next, I remembered I had a frilly skirt, kinda like a rumba skirt, and did it look cuuuuute with that Levi jacket. But how could I make that into a totally cute outfit? Boots? Mary Janes? Tights? hmmmm. What would YOU do? In Dogma, Alannis wore ballet slippers, but I wanted to go stroll the parks. I settled on the pixie-ish t-strap shoes (pictured) from DesignerShoes.com which has large sizes of all shoes (including heels) :-)I have lots of corsets to choose from, and that was just the look I was going for -- a burgundy and black one looked perfect!
I wasn't sure if I would be covering up my legs with high heeled boots, or wear tights, or mesh stockings, or just what I was going to do. To be on the safe side, I knew I'd want smooth hairless legs nonetheless. First things first. (I didn't even need alibis for my hairless legs -- I'm getting braver!)

After I got my leggies figured out, I went to work on my hair and face. I wanted something utterly flamboyant for the hair, but I didn't want to go shopping. So I made a chiffon flower (you can make some of these things yourself) out of a headband and some pretty pink chiffon ribbon. I actually made peonies, because I wanted something larger, but that would look right with the skirt. It was worth the effort!I like Alannis's hair in Dogma too. But mine's a little wispier, so I just followed the turorial in the YouTube video below. I put on some very heavy purple eyeshadow with some glitter. I also used lip gloss with glitter. When out in the park, even some girls commented on my "cute outfit" and asked where I got my thing from! Now THAT's a compliment!!!!
